YouTube in Education
Here is a presentation (in .pdf format) on how to use YouTube, as well as possible uses and implications in education.
Internet Safety, Acceptable Use, Research and Copyright
This is a GEOSS activity. Joseph Thibault, et al. produced a Moodle class on Internet safety, acceptable use, research, and copyright. Moodle is available at: .The class is available online at VTLearn. Joseph also has a .zip file can be expanded on a moodle site to establish the course on that site. At this point, files with a .zip extension can not be loaded onto VTcite.
Global Classroom
We are a small business in Burlington that focuses on promoting the use of Moodle by providing it free. We also provide free training resources and other online professional development opportunities. Any teacher can register and start creating their own online classroom using Moodle by visiting http://globalclassroom.us. Students can also register to participate in their teachers' classrooms by visiting the same page.
New Initiatives:
In early 2008 we will start creating a library of free course modules for teachers to utilize in their own classrooms (the first course module is an AUP/Copyright/Internet Ethics course developed in conjunction with the GEOSS project).
Also, this year we are promoting a new initiative in Vermont to implement Moodle at 15-20 schools statewide using our system. The National eLearning Leadership Cohort will connect educators also implementing Moodle from several states in a collaborative, shared online experience. Global Classroom will share all of it's training resources and will facilitate discussions, live presentations and on-site training opportunities as participants work to implement Moodle (without the hassles of acquiring server space, configuring the platform and generally 'going it alone').
Interested individuals or schools can contact Joseph Thibault (cell: 802-578-7422, email: jthibault@globalclassroom.us) for more information.

Professional Development Module Created in VTcite.org
This link takes you to the professional development module that was created by the first cohort of VTcite users -- spring and summer, 2006.
The modules are very well designed and include valuable resources that can be used in local school districts for professional development in educational technology integration.
I encourage your teams to review the content as you pursue your work this year.

Concepts to Classroom is an online series of workshops on various topics (best practices) in education, with a concentration on several technology integration topics, including using the web the classroom and webquests. The workshops are intended for teachers, administrators, librarians, or anyone interested in education. The tutorials are self-paced but take a fair amount of time to complete. They do, however, give great detail in the practice covered and included examples, models, video and other tools.
OWL: Online Writing Lab at Purdue University
This site links students and teachers to a variety of writing resources. There are Power Point presentations to help teach students how to use the internet to do research. Students and teachers find it extremely useful for research and writing in the grade 5-12 classroom
