Tech4Educators

A summer intensive for teachers and administrators
in K-12 and higher education. The offering of free tools and applications
online for educators has never been easier to learn and apply to the classroom.
In this class learn to: Use blogs and wikis for student journaling and
communication with parents. Make a Webquest for students using your own
curriculum. Build simple websites for delivering your content that are free to
host online. Manage and manipulate photos and graphics using online tools.
Create podcasts (audio) and basic video screencasts as learning tools. Add
animation and avatars, online drawing, photography, and other multimedia tools
& applications, to your teaching strategies. Understand learning
environments such as Second Life, and the Vermont Young Writers’ Project. Learn
about and use an industry-standard Learning Management System (LMS):
Moodle. 3 Graduate Credits.

Note: 

This hybrid course is taught using both online
and face-to-face environments and priced to match Vermont state reimbursement
for teachers of $1464.00. Once a week pre-class online readings/videos on technology tips and topics with participant reflections due online begin May 6 through mid-June, 6 weeks - 6 topics). A one-week summer hands-on
in-person residency, at the Marlboro Graduate School Center in Brattleboro, VT
will follow. There are two separate July intensive weeks to choose from
to fit your summer schedule: July 11-15 and July 18-22. The
final project is a personal technology integration plan to be submitted within
the two weeks following the residency. 

Instructor:

Lisa is a 28-year veteran public school art and technology teacher who
fell in love with technology when it first slipped into her art room in the
1980s. She currently teaches art and technology courses for Community College
of VT and Green Mountain College Grad Program online, as well as face-to-face courses
for Marlboro College Graduate School. She’s a working artist and Web
designer. She holds a BA is from the University of Montana in art and
education and an MAT from Marlboro College Graduate School. This is the 10th
year Lisa has offered this widely popular class for Marlboro.
