21st Century Technology Teams, July 11 - 15, 2011, South Burlington

A summer institute for teams of educators to learn how students can use
information technology to master 21st century skills. Participants
will:

  • work in collaborative teams as they explore a variety of technology topics and tools
  • present what they've learned to the other institute participants
  • use the Understanding by Design process to develop standards-based projects
  • communicate online about their projects and a variety of related topics

Each team will "earn" information technology equipment (up to
$900 worth per team member-e.g., a three-person team would have $2,700
to spend). Teams will select a package of equipment that will be donated
to their school district for use in their classrooms. Participants will
have the opportunity use similar equipment during the week and will
decide at the end of the week which items they would like to order.

Participants
may attend the institute as a "conference" or a "course." Participants
in the course will need to complete daily assignments, take part in
online discussions throughout the summer and fall, and craft a
standards-based project plan in order to earn graduate credit.
