The Grapes of Wrath and The Great Depression

This unit will focus on the Great Depression in the U.S. from 1929 to 1941.The causes of the Depression will be studied,
as well as the consequences, both societal and personal.John Steinbeck’s 1939 novel The Grapes of Wrath will be read in order to address the Enduring Understanding, and the Essential Questions.The class will also videoconference with another class in another part of the country to address aspects of the Enduring Understanding, the Essential Questions, and the power of Steinbeck’s work as an enduring classic and an insight into the universal human condition.
