In this unit students will be focusing on how organisms reproduce and how the offspring will vary
depending on the type of reproduction.The purpose for this study is for students to assist farmers and
possibly people in low economic status to help improve their crop production and nutritional intake. Students will choose different plants to study, for example students my conduct experiments on wheat, mustard, or rice.As students investigate the
essential will provide a context for the development of understanding of genetics, a look into the process of scientific
investigation, and an introduction of basic genetics ideas and terminology. Students will have
access to a class wiki to post their results, pictures, data, and reflections.They will also have access to other
groups data and I will also allow our local experts the opportunity to have access to the wiki in order to see the students progress and they will also be able to add comments to the student sites.The culminating activity will be for the different groups of
students to present their results to the local farmers and to the Bennington County Conservation District members.
