Consider the Source: Understanding Bias in the Media

The media plays a huge role in people’s lives and it is important to understand the
message they are sending. Looking at the media’s messages with a critical eye
is an essential skill for consumers of information.

In this unit, students will analyze the
way the media shares information.  They
will examine different “news” as presented in the media and understand that
some information is more subjective than other information and that looking at
different viewpoints is essential for an understanding of the topics being
presented.
